TOP EDM - WEEK 29

7/14/15

YO! I'm tired as fuck. Did you know that Comic-Con is one of the best parties in the universe? Not only do you get to party with people who normally don't party hardy, but the San Diego scene is one of the best in the universe and there was house and drum & bass and techno all weekend long. You could spit and you'd hit three clubs banging out amazing tunes. But I'm back early 'cause (DUH) I gotta write about today's hottest dance music tunes for youuuuuuuu.

Holy Hell, we have the best week ever, basically. New music from GRIZ, Dillon Francis, Jauz, Boys Noize, Aeroplane and all the other best artists in the world. HOO-BOY. GET READY!

BOYS NOIZE & PILO - CEREBRAL

How 'bout a little ultraviolence from this LILINTERNET directed music video for Boys Noize & Pilo's banging techno chune, Cerebral? Boys Noize can do no wrong in my book right now. LILINTERNET editing together actual random acts of violence reads as an homage to Clockwork Orange through the lens of the police state of today.

KYLE WATSON - WATERMELON

This song has got absolutely everything going for it right now. A little bit future, a little bit garage, a whole hell of a wobble. I really hope that this is where music is heading. I'd take this kind of house music for the next year and a half until something newer and shinier comes along.

GIRAFFAGE & VICEROY - IMPRESSION OF YOU (FEAT. PATRICK BAKER)

It's not every day that two of your artists (from completely different genres) get together and work together so smoothly. Viceroy's summer vibes laid underneath Giraffage's R&B grooves combine forces into something sexy as fuck. This is a match made in heaven that I couldn't have ever imagined I wanted. WELL NOW I WANT MORE. Can't stop now, boys. Where's the tour?

ASTON MERRYGOLD - GET STUPID (CHRIS LAKE REMIX)

Chris Lake has been making quality house tunes for a minute now, but it seems like over the past couple of months he's really started to find a unique voice and come into his own.  Let's consider  Let's Stupid as Chris Lake leveling up.  Cause this song is a fucking party.  So many ideas here. Also Aston Merrygold has quite the voice.  Let's keep that guy around, huh?

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS - EML RITUAL

Another week, another new Chemical Brothers track. This new record is fucking excellent so far. Every new song is better than the last and EML Ritual is an instant classic. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS SONG PLAY AT HARD SUMMER. I FUCKING LOVE THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS. Really pleased that these new tracks aren't one iota disappointing so far.

MAJOR LAZER & DJ SNAKE - LEAN ON (FEAT. MO) (DILLON FRANCIS & JAUZ REMIX)

Major Lazer, DJ Snake and MO came out of the gate with one of the hottest songs of the year. Lean on seems to be absolutely unstoppable. Well, that is until Dillon Francis and Jauz got their hands on it and made a dynamite song marginally worse. I know the rest of the internet has already been saying this, but this is #disappointing.

TCHAMI - AFTER LIFE (FT. STACY BARTHE) [JAUZ REMIX]

After leading off with an unfortunate Jauz song, it pleases me thoroughly to post his Tchami remix. 'Cause this is what music should be. This is some absolute fire and a much better use of his talents.  Everybody been telling me that he's the new hotness. Glad to finally be part of the collective consciousness.

ZZ WARD - LOVE3X (RAC REMIX)

Alright, I'm pretty positive that RAC is the best remixer in the game right now. Fool has the best taste and the best perspective. All he wants to do is make indie rock extra danceable. Long live Indie Dance thanks to RAC. Never stop being you.

FLUSH - COME BACK BABY (EDIT)

Aeroplane is already the undisputed king of disco right now, so when he comes around with a side project like Flush we all better perk up and pay attention. This track kicks off so hot, with some funky world music disco vibes and doesn't let up for a second. Expect to hear this song absolutely everywhere this summer. Consider me PSYCHED for it.

GRIZ - SUMMER '97 FEAT. MUZZY BEAR

Mannnnnn. GRIZ is knocking it out of the ballpark with some smooth neo-soul funk. This is THE summer anthem. I don't care what anyone says. I don't care if I've ever been accused of exaggeration before. This is fucking music. Sweltering summer nights. Let's make a baby.

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
