TOP 10 ANNOYING SONGS YOU HATE, BUT LOVE TO LISTEN TO IN YOUR CAR

7/20/15

When there’s not much to talk about, but there’s many more miles to go, a kickass playlist is the only way to cure the road trip boredom. Download these tunes before you put pedal to the metal, and we guarantee your drive will be the most rockin’ rollin’ one yet.

ROUTE 66 - ROLLING STONES

The quintessential American road trip on Route 66 calls for some classic music. It may be “more than 2000 miles all the way,” from “St. Louie down to Missouri,” but the Rolling Stones have got you covered.

CRUISE - FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE

Roll down your windows and sing at the top of your lungs as you cruise down south through little farm towns on your way to the “south Georgia waters.” Bonus points if you’re in “a brand new Chevy with a lift kit” because this song will definitely have you singing along as you’re driving.

CALIFORNIA - PHANTOM PLANET

If you’re “driving down the 101,” you better be jamming to this Phantom Planet original, best known as The O.C. theme song. You may not know all the lyrics to this song, but when that chorus of “Cali-for-ni-aaaa” comes on, you better be singing along. Whether or not the Golden State is really where you started from, this song will give you all the feels. “California, here we come!”

THE PASSENGER - IGGY POP

Sitting in the passenger seat means you can spend the whole drive looking out the window and you get to control the play list. One of Iggy Pop’s best songs, "The Passenger" is made for those who love to see everything from “the city’s ripped backsides” to “the stars come out at night.” Don’t forget to entertain the driver with your amazing sing-along voice!

DIRT ROAD ANTHEM - JASON ALDEAN

Road trips back home are great for reminiscing about the good old days, and this song will bring back memories of “pop’s farm” and learning how to “kiss and cuss and fight too.” But please don’t have “an ice cold beer sitin’ in the console,” because that’s illegal. So don’t forget to take this song and sing along on your next road trip.

GOOD RIDDANCE (TIME OF YOUR LIFE) - GREEN DAY

Who doesn’t love a good Green Day song to sing along on long drive? Especially, if you’re going to come to come across “another turning point, a fork stuck in the road.” Play this song to remember to take pictures, enjoy yourself, and have “the time of your life.”

RAMBLIN' MAN - THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

If you were “born a ramblin’ man,” listen up! Play this song as you ramble through the country “tryin’ to make a livin’ and doin’ the best” you can! We all know who you are: you’re the ramblin’ man who has his windows rolled down blasting and singing along to this song!

WEST COAST - COCONUT RECORDS

Taking to the road to get over heartbreak? We’ve all been through those moments. As this song proves, you won’t be the first one to “head back home” to take your mind off of things. And sometimes the way to get your mind off of a heartbreak is to sing it out loud in your car like no one is listening.

NO PARTICULAR PLACE TO GO - CHUCK BERRY

And then there are those lucky ones who are “riding along in my automobile / my baby beside me at the wheel.” Listen to this song as you ride along with your sweetie, with “no particular place to go.” Don’t forget to hit a harmonious duet with him/her.

SHUT UP AND DRIVE - RIHANNA

No road trip is complete without this modern-day classic from Rihanna’s 2007 Good Girl Gone Bad album. When you already “got a ride that’s smoother than a limousine” and “class like a fifty-seven Cadillac,” all there’s really left to do is “shut-up and drive, drive, drive!”

So the next time you step out the door to hit the road, don’t forget to download these songs onto your road trip playlist. These road trip songs will have you singing for days, whether you find them annoying or not.
