SPOTIFY: WEEKLY CHART - WEEK 4

1/25/19

Boy oh boy, this real-life American soap opera that we’re living is in need of a killer ass soundtrack. Something has to tune out the grunting and groaning coming from the east coast and what better way than to blast today’s Weekly Chart on Spotify. The music featured on this week’s list may not have the power to restore jobs and payout owed money or build a wall but it sure does have the power to help push us through another week of having to put up with other people’s crap. Actually, no need to put up with anything, just put on your headphones and get ready to mooooove!

I won’t give away too much, but I will highlight some of my personal favs. Like …

CHERRY GLAZZER - WASTED NUN

Los Angeles band Cherry Glazzer is frustrated and they’re pouring out their anger in the mind fuzzing single “Wasted Nun.” Both fans and future fans can appreciate the sincerity behind singer Creevy’s voice and lyrics of trying to come to grips with one’s life.  “Wasted Nun” forms part of Cherry Glazzer’s upcoming album Stuffed & Ready out Feb. 1st. Until then, be sure to watch the single’s juicy video here.

MICHAEL BIBI - HANGING TREE

British producer is making bodies move on the dance floor with two-hundred and eighty-seven seconds of looping techno house beats in “Hanging Trees.”

UPSAHL - DRUGS

“I just came here to the party for the drugs / (Drugs), drugs, (drugs), drugs, (drugs) / I'm not tryna make a friend or fall in love.” Even if you are drug-free, you will find yourself loving everything about “Drugs” and singer UPSAHL. And according to the artist, “Drugs” isn’t even about drugs it’s about the fake plastic people who show up at parties pretending to be somebodies. Drugs are the genuine people you find at the parties and we don’t know about you but we want to be BFF’s with UPSAHL.

DES ROCS - OUTTA MY MIND

It’s dirty, it’s gritty, it’s loud, it’s rock of a modern age that wants you to let loose and shake your tail feathers. Des Rocs is bringing rock back in an unapologetic way in “Outta My Mind.” It’s time we take our bras off and burn them.

LEIKELI47 - TIC BOOM

Brooklyn rapper has been on fire with her singles and “Tic Boom” is no exception. With its sharp beat and clever lyrics the single comes off as explosive. When asked about the meaning of such a hard-hitting track, Leileli47 said the following, “ It's about facing whatever your Goliath is and chopping its head off. That's what 'Tic Boom' is about. It's about owning your moment, mastery, and doing it afraid if you have to."

Oh, but the fun doesn't stop here, our entire playlist can be heard below. Better yet, we update our Weekly Chart daily, so be sure to follow and stop by every now and then to discover something new.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
