NEW ARTIST FINDS: DAGNY

12/23/15

Dagny Sandvik is a self-described “songbird from the north of Norway” and she’s quickly gaining a following with her feel-good debut single, “Backbeat.” The new artist is currently residing in London where she is busy crafting her electrifying blend of catchy pop and uplifting folk that we can’t get enough of. If you have a thing for catchy indie-pop that will be stuck in your head for hours, then read on and fall in love with one of our favorite new artists, Dagny.

DAGNY - BACKBEAT

“Backbeat” is her ridiculously good debut single, and you will be instantly hooked once you get lost in the stomping beat, hand claps, and wonderfully uplifting piano notes that carry the track throughout its duration. The electric guitar adds a sense of urgency as the insanely catchy chorus first hits at the 0:55 mark and will have you singing along in no time as she demands, “tell me that you love me like you did before.” Her vocals are strong yet sweet and inviting, which is perfect for her warm and joyous indie pop style that shows off her inviting attitude.

DAGNY - BACKBEAT (LIVE)

She recently performed the track live on NRK P3, and it’s a cool stripped-down performance that still manages to capture the essence and urgency of the studio version. We can’t wait to hear what she releases next!

If you’re anything like me, you are now totally obsessed with this song and it will be on repeat for the rest of the night. Be sure to like Dagny on her Facebook page and follow her on SoundCloud to be the first to know about what she’s up to next!

And while we wait for more material, head on over here to check out even more awesome BitCandy-filtered new music.
