BEST NEW TRACKS: MAKO & MORGAN PAGE - REAL LIFE
Los Angeles based duo MAKO is destined for a radio-friendly hit with their brand new single, “Real Life.” MAKO members Alex Seaver and Logan Light collaborated with Morgan Page on the track, and they ended up created an uplifting, fun and memorable three minutes of pure indie pop fun that is bound to grab them some deserved attention. The duo’s “about” section on their Facebook page simply reads, “music for heart and feet,” which seems quite fitting once you hear “Real Life.”
I couldn’t help but get a slight Swedish House Mafia vibe when I heard the line, “But my father told me, ‘Son, stand up tall, the world is too crowded to live without love’,” as I instantly thought of their track “Don’t You Worry Child,” but that in no way means that “Real Life” can’t stand on its own. Electronic guitar samples an intricate beats slowly build until the chorus hits at the 0:47 mark as they ask, “is this really real life?” A cracking chorus full of “oohs” makes this super catchy and easy to sing along to, while subtle electronics add an extra special touch. The track is off of their new album, Hourglass, which is available now.
