BEST NEW INDIE: BRUNO MAJOR - HOME
While his younger brother (and housemate!) Dot Major is busy making his much-anticipated comeback with his band London Grammar, Bruno Major continues to pave the way to his own success this January with his latest offering, “Home.”
The rising English singer-songwriter was without a doubt one of my favorite discoveries of 2016, having first caught my attention last August with his deeply gorgeous debut single, “Wouldn't Mean A Thing.” “There's Little Left” and “The First Thing You See” swiftly followed, but it's today's featured number that might be Major's most majestic piece yet.
Written alongside his friend Dan McDougall, “Home” is an indescribably beautiful acoustic ballad that truly stopped me in my tracks with its Leonard Cohen-esque charm. Timeless and poetic, with a gentle hint of melancholy, Bruno once again proves to be a troubadour wise (not to mention talented!) beyond his years.
“I've written a lot of songs with Dan McDougall but I think 'Home' is my favourite,” posts Major on Facebook. “I'm so excited to be putting this into the universe.”
And the universe is so excited to be receiving it.
BRUNO MAJOR - HOME
Rumor has it that Bruno Major is set to release a debut album this 2017, so be sure to keep an eye (ear?!) out for that later this year. Until then, sit back, relax and enjoy the heart-warming sounds of “Home.”
About Jess Grant
When Jess Grant isn't writing on music, she can be found playing it – on her guitar, on her ukulele, and on her recently acquired mandolin. Playing it hideously, she ought to add. Jess also studies. She studies the English language, to be precise. Jess is currently on her way to a degree in the subject, and enjoys starting and never finishing novels, screenplays, and poetry in her spare time. She also likes dogs. Lots of dogs.
