TOP CHILL SONGS – WEEK 50
The only thing that's preventing me from having a complete breakdown this holiday season is the following edition of Top Chill Songs. If it wasn't for the latest tracks from Mansionair, Gems, Shy Girls and more coming to my rescue, I'm pretty sure that I'd be slumped in a Starbucks somewhere, cry-singing Mariah Carey into my Eggnog Latte as we speak!
NEW INDIE MUSIC – WEEK 50
The Grammy Awards have been a hot mess for years, and 2017 looks set to be no different. But at least Parquet Courts are up for Best Recording Package, right? RIGHT? Anyways, moving swiftly on to this week's edition of New Indie Music featuring the definitely NOT Grammy nominated artists Poliça, Of Monsters And Men, White Lies and lots more!
BEST NEW SONGS: XYLO - GET CLOSER
When historians look back at this decade in electronic music, they will determine that every band had a male producer and female vocalists. Call it the Matt and Kim Corollary. Which brings us to XYLO and their best new song, “Get Closer.” While it’s not an advert for my favorite Joy Division album like I first hoped, it is heartbreaking pop song with pulse and emotional resonance to spare.
BEST CHILL SONGS – WEEK 49
It's the most wonderful time of the year...or is it?! Call us Scrooge if you must, but we think that Christmas can be stressful. Enter BitCandy's Best Chill Songs. The following tracks from Flume, Peter Silberman, Blackbear and more will provide you with some much-needed peace in the lead up to December 25th!
TOP INDIE SONGS – WEEK 49
Best Of 2016 lists are slowly but surely starting to overtake the music blogosphere (spoiler: Frank Ocean tops them ALL), but you won't find any of those here at BitCandy. Come with us into 2017 with yet another edition of Top Indie Songs from TOBACCO, Tove Lo, Theophilus London and even more!
BEST CHILL SONGS – WEEK 48
BitCandy is here to help you stay sane this holiday season with the latest edition of Best Chill Songs. Forget Mariah Carey prancing around in an inappropriately tiny Santa outfit. All you'll want for Christmas this 2016 are the following tracks from Jai Wolf, Lyves, Cigarettes After Sex, REECE, Shy Girls, and more.
BEST ALTERNATIVE POP - WEEK 48
Rudolph the rednose reindeer and Bing Crosby carols ain’t got nothing on this week’s hottest songs in Indie Pop. For all you scrooges and grinches the playlist below could not have come at a better time. Please enjoy to the max fresh tracks from new and old favorites including Billie EIlish, TOKiMONSTA, Leon Else, and more.
BEST ALT CHILL: DAEVA - DREAM
Brooklyn-based new artist Gigi Mead aka DAEVA describes herself as “local demon girl sings songs,” even though her track, Dream, sounds absolutely heavenly. The track opens with glittering electronics and her light and airy vocals that add even more shimmer to the calming dream-pop track.
BEST NEW INDIE: LEONARD COHEN - YOU WANT IT DARKER (PAUL KALKBRENNER REMIX)
The curse of 2016 struck once again on November 7 when it was announced that Leonard Cohen had passed away at the age of 82. Mere weeks prior, Cohen had graced us with his fourteenth and final studio album, the beguiling You Want It Darker – the title track for which today receives an unlikely remix from German electronic veteran Paul Kalkbrenner.
BEST NEW INDIE POP: LEON ELSE - DANCE
Having recently got sexy with model and actress Suki Waterhouse in the video for Black Car, British singer-songwriter Leon Else returns today with another visual spectacular for his second single, Dance.
